Akame ga Kill!

Three young friends, Tatsumi, Ieyasu, and Sayo, leave their small, ruined village to reach the empire's capital, seeking their fortune and reviving their homeland. During the journey, Tatsumi loses sight of his friends, arriving alone in the capital. Soon, however, his vision of the capital collides with the harsh reality, and Tatsumi finds himself alone, robbed, and homeless. Taken in by a wealthy local family, Tatsumi believes he's had a great opportunity, but that same evening, the residence where he's staying is attacked by a gang of assassins calling themselves Night Raid. After barely fending off one of the attackers, a swordswoman named Akame with a dark past, Tatsumi discovers that the family who took him in secretly kidnaps travelers and vagrants for the sole purpose of torturing them to death, and finds his friends Ieyasu and Sayo among the latest victims. Enraged, he kills the last survivor himself and ends up joining Night Raid, hoping to eliminate the empire's evil. But can a murderer bring justice?
