Bleach

Ichigo Kurosaki seems like an ordinary high school student until his family is attacked by a Hollow, an evil spirit that preys on human souls. During the chaos, Rukia Kuchiki, a Shinigami who is injured while protecting them, gets involved. To save his family, Ichigo takes Rukia's powers and becomes a Shinigami himself.

The problem is, Rukia can't regain her strength, so it's up to Ichigo to travel the city and wipe out every Hollow in sight. Luckily, he's not alone: his classmates Orihime, Sado, and Ishida join him, each with strange and useful abilities. But just as they get used to this crazy job, it turns out the Hollows are just the beginning of much more dangerous things. If you're looking for giant swords, absurd fights, and incredibly engaging characters, this is a real blast.
