Death Note

Light Yagami is a straight-A student, bored with his lifestyle and tired of being surrounded by a society rife with crime and corruption. His life takes a decisive turn when one day he finds a mysterious black notebook on the ground with "Death Note" written on the cover. The Death Note's instructions state that anyone whose name is written in it will die. Initially skeptical of the Death Note's authenticity, believing it to be a prank, Light changes his mind when he witnesses the death of two criminals whose names he had written in the notebook. After meeting the Death Note's true owner, a shinigami (lit., God of Death) named Ryuk, Light seeks to become the "God of the New World," a world whose laws and punishments he himself decides.
