Neon Genesis Evangelion

In 2015, the Angels, immense and formidable extraterrestrial war machines, reappear in Tokyo. Humanity's only hope for survival lies in the Evangelion, a humanoid combat machine developed by NERV, a special agency of the United Nations. Able to withstand all the Angels' attacks, the Evangelion suffers a serious handicap: the limited number of people capable of piloting it. Only a few teenagers, born fourteen years earlier, nine months after the Angels' first appearance, are able to interact with the Evangelion. Among them is Shinji Ikari, whose father heads the NERV team that developed and maintains the Evangelion. Caught in a whirlwind of battles and events he doesn't understand, Shinji is forced to draw on his inner strength and courage not only to fight, but also to survive, or risk losing everything.
