Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You

For the exhausted, middle-aged Sasaki, surviving another grueling day of corporate drudgery comes down to one simple comfort: a bright smile from Yamada, the cheerful cashier at his local supermarket. But when a particularly punishing shift makes him miss her scheduled hours, a deflated Sasaki heads around the back of the store in search of a quiet place for a solitary cigarette.

Instead of smoking alone, he is intercepted by Tayama—a bold, playfully teasing woman who immediately calls out his obvious crush on her coworker. What begins as an awkward encounter quickly turns into a comforting routine. Now, Sasaki looks forward not only to Yamada’s sunny greetings at the register but also to his relaxing smoke breaks with the mischievous Tayama. Blending relaxed slice-of-life charm with subtle romance, Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You explores the quiet, unexpected connections that make a heavy daily grind feel a little lighter.
